Frequently Asked Questions

Background and Credentials

What licenses, certifications and designations do you have?

Our advisors hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation. In addition, we are also members of The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA, the leading association of fee-only fiduciary advisors), the Fee-Only Network of advisors and the XY Planning Network. These credentials and affiliations demonstrate our commitment to education, ethics, and putting clients’ best interests first.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. We are fiduciary financial advisors, which means we are legally and ethically required to always put your best interests ahead of our own. It is one of the reasons we started our firm. Like you, we agree that it is ridiculous if an advisor is not acting in your best interest!

Can you provide client references?

While client confidentiality is very important, we do have client feedback listed on our Google Business Profile. If you would like to speak to one of our clients directly, we can arrange a conversation with client permission.

Services Offered

What services do you provide?

We provide comprehensive financial planning and ongoing investment management. Our services include retirement planning, investment strategy, tax planning, estate planning coordination, cash flow management, and specialized planning for families, professionals, and business owners.

Do you have account minimums?

While we do not have hard minimums, most of our clients have at least $1 million in investable assets. The most important thing is that we are a mutual fit in working together on an ongoing basis.

What areas of financial planning do you cover?

We cover all major areas of financial planning, including retirement income strategies, tax optimization, investment management, college savings, insurance and risk planning, and estate planning coordination. Our goal is to provide complete advice tailored specifically to your life and goals.

Client Experience

What is the process to become a client?

We start with a short 15-to-30-minute conversation to learn about your situation at a high-level. After that, you provide information to us to build out an initial financial plan. We then have a more in-depth meeting where we get to know each other, discuss what is most important to you and review next steps.

How often do you meet with clients?

We typically meet with clients at least once or twice a year for formal reviews, and more often if needed. In addition, we are always available by phone, email, or virtual meetings whenever questions arise.

Do you only work with clients in Pittsburgh?

While we are based in Pittsburgh and serve many local families and business owners, we also work with many families across the country.

How do I schedule a meeting?

Whether you are a client or prospective client, you can schedule a meeting with us here.

Where is your office located?

Our office is located at 5800 Corporate Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. We are near McCandless Crossing and Ross Park Mall. We are also available to meet virtually if that is better for you.

Fees and Compensation

How are you paid?

We are paid directly by our clients through transparent fees. Our compensation comes in the form of either a flat fee for financial planning or a percentage of assets under management for ongoing investment services.

Do you receive commissions or sell products?

We are fee-only. This means we never receive commissions or third-party compensation for recommending financial products. Our only incentive is to provide you with the best possible advice for your situation.

Do you provide financial planning only?

Yes, we offer both stand-alone financial planning engagements and ongoing financial planning paired with investment management. Our goal is to provide a lifelong partnership to your family and we aim to structure our services to best fit your needs.
